The NASCAR media landscape is full of diverse personalities, commentators and analysts. Some of them are former drivers, crew chiefs and owners. Here’s a comprehensive list of the names that make the NASCAR media even more interesting.
FOX Sports

Fox’s play-by-play room is full of NASCAR legends and current leaders. Mike Joy was once the new face of NASCAR play-by-play. Now Joy is NASCAR’s veteran play-by-play broadcaster. Prior to his time at Fox, which began in 2001, Joy worked for CBS and MRN. Adam Alexander is Fox’s No. 2 play-by-play broadcaster, covering the Xfinity and Truck Series. Alexander has a resume that rivals almost any other media personality in NASCAR. Jamie Little is Fox’s workhorse. Little can be found in the ARCA and Truck Series booth and on pit road for the Xfinity Series and Truck Series. Whether you’re at the track or at home, Little is hard to miss as she always seems to be working for Fox NASCAR.
Color commentators:
Fox’s color commentary team used to be its strongest team. But since the departure of Darrell Waltrip and the reduction of Larry McReynold’s role, the job has been in a period of flux. Currently, former drivers Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick accompany Mike Joy throughout the Fox portion of the season. As the season progressed, the two began to make progress.

Josh Sims, for example, is a pit reporter for NASCAR but works for several Fox Sports properties. Larry McReynolds is either at the track or in the studio throughout the race, providing analysis and opinion to the team principal, while Chris Myers hosts the pre-race show. Dylan “Mamba” Smith and Kaitlyn Vincie co-host Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour along with their work on other NASCAR-related projects.

NASCAR on NBC

NASCAR on NBC recently made its first change to its Cup Series play-by-play responsibilities since regaining NASCAR coverage in 2015. Longtime play-by-play voice Rick Allen stepped down to the Xfinity Series booth to make way for former voice of IndyCar on NBC, Leigh Diffey.
Diffey is known for his enthusiasm and eagerness to get the product on the right track. Since visiting the booth at the 2024 Coke Zero Sugar 400, fans have also recognized Diffey’s attention to detail and research each race weekend. Rick Allen is known for his booming voice, which is associated with many current moments in NASCAR history.
*Allen credits the Xfinity Series on the CW, although he is still under NBC contract. The same goes for Jeff Burton and Steve Letarte.
Color commentators:
NBC’s color analyst team includes Daytona 500 crew chief Steve Letarte and Race 21 NASCAR Cup Series winner Jeff Burton. The two have great chemistry and personalities. Letarte also co-hosts NASCAR Inside The Playoffs on TruTV, although he remains primarily affiliated with NBC.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. shocked the world when he jumped from the NBC booth to the TNT and Amazon Prime booth in 2025. Earnhardt is taking a season off to prepare for color commentary with NASCAR’s newest partners. However, Jr. isn’t hard to find; He still hosts the Dale Jr. Download weekly.
Independent broadcasters and personalities
Personalities:
Shannon Spake has been involved in NASCAR media and broadcasting for a long time. She hosted shows for both NASCAR on Fox and ESPN, in addition to working pre-race, pit road and post-race work. After the cancellation of NASCAR Race Hub, Fox let Spake go. However, she recovered easily. She now co-hosts NASCAR Inside The Playoffs on TruTV and NASCAR Daily on YouTube. Spake is also the Charlotte Hornets sideline reporter for Bally Sports.
