Steph leaves the Warriors-Kings preseason game after jamming his finger

Steph leaves the Warriors-Kings preseason game after Jamming Finger originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

The last thing the Warriors need less than two weeks before the start of the 2024-25 NBA regular season is an injury to Steph Curry, but that’s something they’re dealing with at the moment, although there doesn’t appear to be anything to worry about.

Curry, 36, left the Warriors’ preseason game against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night at Chase Center after jamming his right index finger in the first half. Doesn’t appear to be serious.

Curry was subbed with 4:02 left in the first half, and a short time later we walked into the Warriors’ locker room with Rick Celebrini, the team’s director of sports medicine and performance.

When the second half began, Curry was not in the starting lineup or on the bench.

According to the Warriors, Curry was in the weight room working out during the second half of the game.

Curry finished Friday’s game with six points on 2 of 7 shooting from the field and 1 of 4 from 3-point range in 16 minutes of play.

Coach Steve Kerr told reporters after the Warriors’ 109-106 loss that Curry should play more minutes.

“He was actually going to play in the third quarter for the first time tonight, but when he jammed his finger, it didn’t make sense,” Kerr said.

Like all Warriors fans, Kerr holds his breath whenever Curry suffers any injury.

“Always, always,” Kerr told reporters. “Steph is Steph. At half time I was assured that he was fine. The x-rays were negative. Wasn’t too worrying. But you always get nervous when he’s injured.”

The Warriors still have three preseason games left before they open the regular season on October 23rd on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers.
